For more than 60 years ÅF has been carrying out assignments for companies and organisations in the telecommunications sector.

 

We have the breadth, the skills and the size to handle the development, document specification, implementation, project planning, commissioning and maintenance of products and systems in this field. We are also involved in developing many of the new services and functions that operators and consumers demand.

 

On the infrastructure side we work with the planning, project management and project engineering aspects of technology and networks for radio, IT and telecommunications. Our experience in these fields covers everything from local networks in individual premises and properties to international public access networks for clients such as telecom operators, military and civilian communications technology companies and other major network builders. No matter who, what or where, we offer all our clients solutions that are tailored to their network needs.

 

Recent projects have included the roll-out and implementation of mobile systems for GSM, W-CDMA and TDMA, GSM-R, fixed and mobile telephony, and IP telephony. We have also been involved in the expansion of infrastructure facilities for operators such as TDC Sond and Tele2, and have worked closely with the Swedish Civil Aviation Authority to develop its fibre-optic network and with the National Swedish Rail Administration's GSM-R communications system.

 

Our studies and analyses of future platforms for the Swedish Armed Forces' communications systems have given us leading-edge skills and an in-depth insight into this field of technology. Large, technically complex systems must be built on the twin foundations of what is theoretically possible and what is practically achievable. ÅF has the vision, the know-how and the experience to meet these criteria.
